Military Jacket Recreation

I think that Monday's are my favorite blog day.  I know I know - it's Monday and I shouldn't be so excited but I LOVE getting to show you are recreated looks on Monday.  The whole process of recreating a look is so much fun - finding a look that is popular and trendy on Pinterest or Fashion blogs then going to the Thrift Store to find items to recreate that look.  Right there you have 2 things that I love to do - Pinterest & Thrifting - so pretty much I am already giddy and we haven't even done the photo shoot yet =)

Today we have the always lovely Carissa modeling our Recreated look. I don't know about you but where we live we actually had some pre-fall weather this past week.  Well for Texas it was pre-fall weather - low 90's was the high and the mornings were amazing in the 70's which is all so unusual for August in Texas but we will take it and not complain.  Due to the "cooler" weather (hehe), our recreated look leans towards getting you ready for some pre-fall weather styling.

Keep your summer dresses out - you can still wear them during pre-fall and fall season - just add a military jacket into the mix and you are all set.  It's a great way to make those summer dresses more versatile year round.

Our Recreated look comes from the blog Happily Grey again- get use to it because you will see a lot from her - pretty FAB!  She took a simple white dress and paired it with a military jacket for a great weekend look.  If you go to her site you can see that she sources her outfit pieces and this outfit for the dress and jacket = $143 which includes the current sale prices. Check her out...

We did the same thing but for much much less!
Dress = Old Navy at local thrift store for $3.78
Military Jacket = Old Navy at local thrift store for $2.50
Purse = Vintage and was handed down from my grandma.  I love using old vintage purses - just adds a little something, don't you think?

Don't be afraid of adding layers of rings - double up and make a statement.  We may have put every ring we own on Carissa but what a statement it makes =)
Other items that we have in our look include 2 necklaces that were hand me downs from Grandma's and a chunky bracelet borrowed - it is from Free People ($22).  The gladiator sandals are from Ross - a couple years old but I usually don't pay more than $15 for shoes at Ross.

Hope you enjoyed our Recreated look for the week. It was such a fun blog to post and share with you.

Don't forget to send us your favorite Pinterest looks so we can recreate them for you.  Send all ideas to Penniesandrecreation@gmail.com

Tata for now!
